The manual winch on the U.S. Tower tiltover fixture explicitely says, "Crank
by hand only". Presumably this means don't use a drill (cf., LXC directive.)
I imagine that the same goes for a manual raising winch. My installer
demonstrated that a heavy-duty 1/2" drill makes short work of tilting the
tower over and rasing it back up. But you have to be *very* carful in
controlling the speed. It was hard to keep the tower from literally flying
up. The whole arrangement just seemed dangerous to me and made me nervous. I
tilt it over so infrequently that hand cranking is acceptable. I've got the
motor for routine rasing and lowering.
Sorry to be the voice of caution again.
