The compression of the two metal blocks along with the conductive 
goop seals it. There is a small section (maybe 1/4 inch) at both edges 
of the block to accomodate the coax jacket, then it narrows further 
to accomodate the section where the jacket has been removed (1 
inch).  The blocks I have will take up to 4 RG8-type coaxes. A few 
years ago, I opened one up to add another coax line, and the original 
ones, present for at least 5 years looked exactly as they did when 
installed.
