Michael, Sorry to hear of your rotor problems. I've been lucky(?) it seems
with my Yaesu 1000-SDX. I know it's rated at a bit more than the 800, but I
thought you might be interested. I have been waiting for the rotor to fail
due to the intense winds we get, but so far it's worked just fine. I am
turning a 205BAS 5 element 20 and a 2 el 40 meter beam 12 feet above that.
Just a few months ago I stuck a 3 element duo band 10/15 yagi between the
20 and 40. My tower is 83 feet of Rohn 45G and I have the mast pinned to
the rotor clamps which is a no-no in some circles, but works fine so far. I
installed this system almost 3 years ago and still going strong. I don't
turn it much if the wind is REALLY blowing hard, but I have turned it to
work a new one when the wind was really howling. I've attempted to wind
balance my antennas as much as possible.

For what it's worth......

73 and GL,

Matt--K7BG
