Hello Earnest:

Can you tell me if there is something wrong with the
following message? I have posted it twice to TowerTalk and
have never seen it reflected or received a reply.

I am subscribed to the list, so that is not the problem.

Greetings:

Getting ready to install an M2 Orion 2800DC rotor on the tower.

The question is, since the motor and pulsed indication voltages
are DC, what type of lightning protection devices should be
used?

I see that Polyphaser sells a model IS-48VDC -30 -FG (30 amp Floating
Ground). This looks like it would work for the motor voltage leads
as they are 30-42 Vdc + or -, depending on direction. However,
this is only a 2 conductor unit and I would still need something
for the pulsed directions indicator signals. Any thoughts?

Also, the run to the top of the tower will be on the order of 300
feet plus; any thoughts on appropriate cable? I remember a recent
thread regardin using UF grade Romex for this, but don't recall
the exact circumstances. I need four conductors, 2 would have to
be 12 gauge, and two can be 20-22 gauge.

Thanks,

J.P. W2XX
