In practice, I don't think ( and hope ) that anyone removes a
brace. The idea is
to cut the brace into at about its middle, bend one end to put
the rotor in, and then use a 6" or so identical section of a
scrap piece of 25. Tape it across the cut equally, ( just to hold
it in place temporarily, and then use large cable clamps to
secure it to the old brace.
I'll guarantee the brace is now stronger than the original.
