If the antenna is on the ground, it would be a good idea to
check ALL the traps. The END COVERS tend to crack
and should either be replaced or taped to prevent further
deterioration.
I have found loose screws inside the cover (the ones that
anchor each end of the coil wire) so it is a good idea to
disassemble the trap and inspect inside. This is easily
done by sliding the end covers off and removing the 1/4
inch hex screw from the trap end. The cover can slide off
fairly easily, exposing the coil inside. Be careful not to
strip the threads by overtightening !
There should be continuity across EVERY trap.
