The reason they don't come apart is quite simple. The glue
actually melts the pvc chemically and fuses the two parts
together. I usually chip off the outside part (elbow
or nipple) and then sand down the pipe.
As my brother is a plumber, I get my parts at a reduced
rate (Free most of the time ;-)
