I have been watching the thread on ground rods and how they should be driven.
It's all well and good to use water, but what happens when the tower is 400
feet or so away and you dont' have that much hose, but the ground is still
really hard.
What worked for me was to take nr 3 rbar (3/8) and insert it into 1/2 inch
copper tubing. I then cut a point with a grinding wheel attached to my
circular saw into to rebar and the copper tubing. Banging it into the ground
was a cinch, even with a very nasty hardpan underneath at 4 feet.
Since the general consensus is that hams are a cheap lot, this might be a
good way to go....about 5 bucks for a ten foot stake.
