Hello all-
Guessing that covenants and RFI control will be the most likely topics,
perhaps misleading advertising about certain products can be discussed, like
the ad in the brand new HRO 2001 summer catalog where it states that the MFJ
1026 noise filter advertised on page 73 can:
"MFJ-1026 wipes out interference on all modes SSB, AM, CW, FM and frequencies
from 1.5 to 30 MHz. Wipes out lightning crashes, severe power line noise from
arcing transformers, lamp dimmers, touch controlled lamps, electric drills,
motors, industrial processes, etc. Dig out weak stations, eliminate unwanted
signals. Better than a phased array"......."HRO Price $169.95"
Wipes out lightning crashes and is better than a phased array eh? wow-
Since the recent love in on TT for MFJ, it really intrigues me to know what
police action there is for these types of misleading, exaggerated ads. Note
the ad doesn't tone down a bit to where it could go, like for example stating
that the product helps attenuate static crashes. Instead, it makes absolute
statements like "wipes out lightning crashes"..."Better than an array". Now
most of us know that this is a bill of goods, but please, there are still
plenty of people believing what they read- and most don't have the real
estate to know how an array performs or sounds like- -
I do agree with W8JI, where he stated MFJ needs to work on quality control-
I'm sure others agree too- And I really appreciate the suggestions from those
who suggest we put our comments in a constructive letter to Mr. MFJ vs
ranting about having to return item after item after item after item after
item after item after item over defective and/or lemon and/or misleading
advertised products- - Just an opinion-
