I used LEXAN tubing and rod to make a replacement
driven element insulating arrangement on my 40-2CD. I
never trusted it to be UV resistant although it may
well be. I covered it with a layer of #33 electrical
tape. I had the antenna down last fall for some minor
repairs and there was no UV damage evident. I also
have some fiberglass pieces on the linear-loading
sections of my 80/160 vertical. Instead of covering
with tape, I painted the pieces and they are in
perfect condition after 8-9 years out in the elements
(SE Pa.). Both schemes seem to work.
