[Towertalk] Tower Base

Thank you all for the snappy replies.

It was asked, What am I looking for?

Stuff out of which to make a support for a turntable, so I can rotate an
'amateur antenna support structure' from its base.

The threaded 'anchor bolts' would be formed into a circular pattern imbedded
in the concrete base, supporting the turntable structure, on top of which
the a.a.s.s. would be set. The hook is my idea of how to keep the bolt
from rotating in the concrete pier.

Alternative solutions could be a 'big-bertha' concentric-tube affair above
or imbedded in the pier, or a surplus 'crane turntable', or a
suitably-sized leaky hydraulic cylinder, and I'll be very interested in
reading whatever other suggestions the group members have.

The happy news is that I have a score of signed QSLs ;o) from all concerned
neighbors, to the effect that they have no objections to my application for
the necessary zoning variances, **and that competent structural and
architectural engineering is in the offing**.

Guying would be difficult, politically, so I am planning on using a
self-supporting a.a.s.s. I already own.

The 'process' is a large part of the enjoyment and satisfaction I expect to
derive out of doing this one-time project. Sad to write, it seems to me
that, except for contest weekends, activity on 160-10M seems way down, eg, I
hardly hear any of the s-p and l-p gray-line dx activity I remember from the
'50s, '60s, and '70s, on 40M in the late afternoons, which activity
constitutes most of the other part of my expected enjoyment and
satisfaction.

Tks again -- 73, Dave, N3HE
