Look guys, I am not going to engage in pissing contest or arguments.
All I am trying to relate my experiences with real life antennas and shed
some light at some soft modeling "results." If you don't believe it, play
with it and then lets talk. You wish to believe in software modeling
"gospel," your choice. It ain't all black and white as it is "accepted."

As far as ARRL DX contest, yea I fired up (VE3BMV) one year on 20 m, creamed
the record, beat by nice margin bunch of prominent Ws, only to find myself
disqualified by W1XX, who decided to apply strict log checking rules to
(only) my log. I was disqualified for having too many errors, which later
proved to be very low percentage and started the whole log checking
"revolution." That was the last ARRL DX contest I operated.

Comparison with W2PV back then? I was basically in line behind him to Eu, and
when the band started to open up to Eu, he would be the first one to hear the
stuff. W2PV op would be CQing and not hearing the many callers. I could hear
them and work them. There were no mountaintops at W2PV or VE3BMV. Compared to
other Yagied locals I would be typically 10 - 20 dB louder and hear 1 to 2
hours earlier/longer. (yea, "impossible" :-)

I don't care if anyone thinks that Yagi is better or same as Quad. Some
competitive types are finding advantages to use quads and with better
materials there will be more of them. Just ask KC1XX about his stacked 80m
Quads. I hope to find some free time to continue more work in that direction
and to come up with some articles describing some new arrays.

In the mean time ... -.-

Yuri
