mechanics use a product called anti-seize when putting an engine 
together...it helps ensure that metal to metal contact does not "become 
one" - this is what I have used for tower legs for over 30 years now - 
my Dad taught that to me - and his Dad probably to him... Anti-Seize is 
available at automotive places like NAPA... it is a routine item, I 
usually get the soup can sized container which has a brush on the inside 
of the lid - then use that brush to swab (pay attention) the inside of 
the upper (female) section... this way if you bump into the tower it 
doesn't get on you like it would if you put it on the narrower part of 
the overlap.
