The FAA is quite clear... if a tower is VOLUNTARILY lit or marked, it must be maintained according to FAA R &R. This means specifications/maintenance/reporting/monitoring. Novelty or not, it is lit/marked. I would never recommend voluntarily lighting a tower. You ar eopening up a real problematic can of unecessary worms. When in doubt, file an FAA 7460-1. then you are covered legally. Been in the tower business 30 years... I could tell you stories! 73, and keep smiling! Mike KM1R |
