Quads are comfortable at just about any height. You'd like to
have them above nearby obstructions if possible but that's about
all.

Yagi's on the other hand like to be from .7 to 1.2 wavelengths
above ground otherwise the design low angle radiation pattern
becomes distorted. There are usually one or more high angle lobes
associated with a yagi that can be very useful for domestic
contesting so keeping the antenna closer to .7 wavelengths is
preferable for your purposes. If you were into DX contests
keeping the antenna at least 1 wavelength above ground would be
best.
