Regarding mounting roof top towers: Consider the permissible load on the mount and the permissible load of the attachment to the roof structure and of the roof structure itself. Do not depend upon screws or lag bolts. Use bolts through through the tower mount, the roof, and some form of plate inside the structure; if the plate is wood, use a fender washer or better bearing on the plate.
