Hi Erik, Hi Mike, and thanks for a very fast reply. I don't think you have anything to worry about with stainless steel against aluminum. In my experience there isn't a lot of galvanic action with that combination of metals. You should be concerned however with galling (seizing) if you are using stainless nuts on those stainless u-bolts. Stainless nuts will fuse with stainless bolts at the high pressures that result when you tighten the nuts. I learned this the hard way. Once this happens, you won't be able to get the nuts off the u-bolt without a hacksaw. Molybdenum Disulfide grease is an excellent anti-seize agent. Every since I had the boom-to-mast U-bolts on a 2 element 40 seize on me during an install, I have been using Moly-Disulfide with good success. Ok about not worring having the stainless steel against the aluminum. I do have the stainless nuts, and also stainless springs. I can confirm, that I had the same experience. And standing there, and will screw a nut backwards and the u-bolts broke, and the new parts is placed in a store in Australia, one have to count to more than 10 :-). I think the reason is the high temperatures that occures when thighten the nuts, and its like they got welded. I'll see if I can buy something like the Molybdenum Disulfide grease here in Denmark. 73 de Mike, W4EF................................. 73, and thanks for the tip, and have a nice last Easterday. (I am off the work all the year :-)).
