It should be easily possible to get at least 50% efficiency
without too much bother even with a poor coil if the antenna
is half-size. If the coil construction  is even moderately
good (Q around 200)efficiency would easily be in the 90%
area with a half size wire dipole that is loaded at the
feedpoint.

The key is keeping the antenna as long as possible and in
the clear, and using a reasonably well constructed coil.

It still would be easier to use an inverted V  dipole and it
would work better, of room is not an issue.
