Hiya Tom,

I'm an ex linesman.  We used heat shrink on quite a bit of underground work.
And they use it here on the irrigation systems.

The problem that I've seen on coax is likely related to flexing caused by
wind and temp swings.  Eventually the seal seems to come loose from the
cable jacket.

I've used both Ilsco and 3m.  Back to mastic tape for me!
