Someone actually forwarded me an antenna article in the
National Contest Journal that had the same sort of nonsense.
The claim was that a folded element raised radiation
resistance and reduced ground loss.

It's truly unfortunate so many people miss such a very
simple basic thing as the sum of current flowing UP all the
conductors of the antenna remains unchanged, and ALL of
those currents flow into the earth. Nothing really changes.
