I have modeled both configurations and there is very little difference using 4
element models. I have built and used both configurations and have been happy
with their performance. Physical durability of each seems equal here in PA.

I currently have a 5 band, 4 -element quad up at 54' which uses "box"
elements for all but the ten meter driven. The ten meter driven element is a
diamond located between the 10-12-15-17-20 reflector and the driven elements
for 12-15-17-20 this allows two benefits.

On ten meters this allows 3 directors for a total 5 elements.
I use "spreader feed" for the ten meter diamond allowing me to switch between
Hor. and Vert.

This is especially handy as many local 10 meters " ragchewers" use surplus 11
meter verticals. Here in western Pennsylvania we have a long standing ten
meter club known as the Breezeshooters of which I am a member. The
Breezeshooters meet each Monday night at 9:00 EST on 28.480. All are welcome
to join. There is no membership fee and you will get a nice certificate.

We are perhaps best known for our annual Hamfest which is very well attended.
It was on June 6th of this year. We consistantly have one of the best prize
lists in the country! Check us out at http://www.breezeshooters.net/
