I have several cell sites that I manage and can tell you that Analog will
not be leaving my employer for a least another 5 years. Not saying some
providers will decide sooner or not. All current new builds for us are
Digital
only. I've advertised used Andrew 1 5/8 many times with no takers. Finally a
ham in North Carolina made two trips to carry it away, connectors and all. I
have less than 300 foot of 1 5/8 left, numerous 1 5/8 connectors. My supply
of
7/8" has been depleted if I should get more I'll post the information.

Kyle

Do I understand correctly that analog cellular service will be history in
the next year or so? At that point, won't there be a sudden surge of
surplus 50-ohm hardline available?

I'm wondering if someone in the industry can comment, and also, if this
is so, what the surplus channels are likely to be. I'm sure most of it
will be in lengths of 100 feet or so, at least in the eastern part of the
country... or will companies be reusing it for new digital capacity?
