Any one have experience with "half slopers"? (half of a half wave with the tower serving as the other side)

I have a half-sloper for 40m coming off my 15m tower at the 12m level.

Performance was OK. It improved a lot when I when from 4 to 13 60 foot radials around the tower base for the 80m shunt feed.

Seems to me a lot of the half-sloper is vertically polarized.
