What could cause a gear shaft in a T2X to fail - shear off?
Either previous damage from the tower crash or heavy winds. Most guys who
have used the T2X rotors have in very heavy winds or with very heavy loads have
had this happen at one time or another. New ones are available from Hy Gain.

My guess is the unit might have had previous damage from the tower failure
that wasn't bad enough to totally kill the shaft. Only now, did it totally let
go.
