Fernando, TT:
I have run A/B comparisons with an R8 mounted on top of a tower @ 60', against
a full sized, elevated 40m GP, the base of which was elevated by 60'. The
antennas were 10 wavelengths apart, with major differences being coax runs, and
proximity of trees.
There was very little difference in performance. Never as much as 3dB
observed. I noticed some diversity differences as signal arrival angles
varied. Sometimes one antenna was louder, sometimes the other.
In short, You can't improve on the antenna by adding radials.
