Mark, these things are useful for miniscule parts having no thermal mass,
like soldering a clasp on a piece of gold jewelry (if it's a small piece).
Solder a PL-259 with it?

My brother boughts one of these and says it is a joke and a scam.
Apparently
4 AA batteries (which become extremely hot) are short circuited in series
with the tip in an attempt to solder .... which it does not. Forget about a
PL-259 even in hot weather.
