As far as the conversion, it's pretty straight forward.

There are 360 degrees in a circle.
There are 60 minutes per degree
There are 60 seconds per minute.

If you wrote the program then the conversion should be simple.    Inputing 
into some one elses might not.

This would be the normal display for GPS (geographic, or global 
coordinates).  I've never looked to see if mine would display otherwise, but 
it's used for navigation.

My logging program requires that I enter the lat & long figures as:

28.xxxxxx and -82.xxxxxx.

I have the figures from my GPS receiver but they are expressed as:

   28.27.319 N
_82.36.623.W

How do I convert the above to the 28.xxxxxx format?
