You are describing a series matching transformer matching. The formulas for
this have been published in the ARRL Antenna Book for years. I have not looked
at the most recent version so not sure it is still there.
One of the most useful applications for this is building two way power
dividers out of pieces of 50 and 75 ohm coax.
