Hi Howard,
I have to agree with you except I was one time a 'stop by for awhile'
participant. I had to go to a three week
class in Leesburg VA. at the Xerox training Center (my employer at the time)
starting on Monday after Dayton. Since I was going to be locked up for
three weeks I decided
to drive out about 14 hours or so from Peoria. It killed me to miss Dayton
but it could not be helped. Since I was driving right through
Dayton I decided to take a chance on a parking space right across from the
arena. Now you know this was 10 plus years ago. I drove down the street (and
of course it had been raining) but right across from the main entrance was a
spot on the side of the road the my Jeep would fit in. A quick yank of the
4WD and there I was parked. Went in paid my bucks for a ticket. Looked at
my watch and gave myself two hours. In the first 20 minutes I ran into 2 of
the people from Illinois that I usually are there with plus a bunch of
others. I resisted the offers to spend the night in the hotel (and make a
long drive on Sunday) being a good employee I left after two hours... I
was shocked that I did it. AND if would have ever thought that 12 years or
so later that the bastards would lay me off in a downsizing $$ move I would
have stayed for sure!
So there have been some brief visits but I bet not many.
