I wanted to pass along some info to those with or thinking about getting the CC
X7. Last weekend I started putting mine together and after a couple days work
the entire antenna was assembled and installed up at 75 feet. Initial SWR
tests were terrible. 3 to 4 to 1 on all bands. After eliminating the long run
of coax out to the base of the tower it was time to take the antenna down to
take a closer look. My first stop was the black box with matching transformer
at the feedpoint. Once opened up I saw that the center conductor off the
SO-239 had no solder on it and the wire that was supposed to be connected about
1/4" away. Within 10 minutes the repair was made and the antenna was heading
back up the tower. SWR now looks fine. So, just a warning, take a few moments
to pop the cover off and take a quick look.
