I posted a message last week that I mentioned my ground rods in.
A SHORT STORY
Several people mentioned tieing in my shack ground rods with my homes service
ground.
Well I went out this morning and dug my trench to tie the grounds together
with my service ground rod. When I got to where the ground wire runs out of the
meter base, I dug down following the wire and found.....The end of the wire,
not connected to any thing.
I dug down a bit deeper and found the ground rod, No clamp on it, just a
ground rod.
As near as I can tell, with the fact that there was no clamp at all on the
ground rod, It was never connected. I guess who ever wired my home 32 years ago
ran out of clamps and never installed one.
That may be the reason for some strange things that have happend in my home
over the years. Like mother boards frying in computers at an alarming rate etc.
Just wanted to thank everyone here. If for some reason I lost the ground going
to the service pole (tree branch or such falling on my service line or for some
other reason I lost that ground)
I have no doubt my home would have burnt down to the ground due to an
electrical fire.
Thanks again and 73
