I dug a 4 x 4 x 4 hole and hit Ohio
Blue Clay about 6 inches down. With
a pick and spud bar...I was removing
golf to softball size chunks of clay.
Borrowed an Bosch electric jackhammer from
a plumber buddy and purchased a clay
spade attachment. Worked like a champ.
The bigger questions would be:
1. How are you going to get the tower
back into your yard?
2. How are you going to move the concrete
into your back yard? That's a lot to
move by hand.
Sounds to me like this isn't the house for you.
Another angle would be to look at the Aluma crank-up
towers with the mounting post option. You'd still need
a six foot post hole...12-15" in diameter...but
the concrete issue would go away...and you and
a couple of buddies can carry the tower. My 50'
only weighs 100#. The post weighs a between 200-300#.
