Electrically the thing is just a big whip. Physically it's a massive
machined stainless steel base with an insulator. I haven't measured it but
the whip is also very thick (3/16", maybe 1/4" stainless). It looks exactly
like those whips you see mounted to old Jeeps and HumVees. If I owned a
Hummer, I'd have one of these (even if I didn't have a radio to hook to it).
I'd have a hard time installing one on a Lexus, however :-)

Is there any literature out there on the ICOM AH-2B antenna element. I
check
the ICOM site and only found a picture...nothing of any use. Nothing on
e-ham product reviews either.

Does anyone know anything about this antenna? Is it just a plain
overpriced
whip with no coils or anything special, or is there more to it?

I already have the ICOM tuner so I don't want to go out and pay big bucks
for
a screwdriver if I don't need it.
