Hello,
Benny (NL7XH) got ahold of some lovely DC-DC converters here in
Fairbanks. I took one home and pulled all the toroids loose from the
board. Once I removed all the wire and fiberglass (itchy itchy) I was
left with 4 nice and heavy toroid core's. The core's are T85's made
from MPP material. The permeability listed as 125 (microHenries?).
Relative partnumbers are Anderson: A-438281-2 or 55438-A2 which resulted
in a nice datasheet which gave my permeability rating.
My question is; with such a high permeability can I make any use of
these for a balun? I'm constantly coming across a need for one and I
would love to make use of these toroids instead of having them sitting
around in my desk drawer.
I have to admit I'm a bit confused about the theory of baluns and
searching around the net left me even more confused....
Thanks,
Justin
