Jim, W6RMK, raised the question of the k9ltc array being
fully programmable. In turn, this raises the broader question
of stacking smaller arrays, and tuning the individual elements,
rather than phase-feeding the tuned arrays.
A curious enough question that it's worth investing some winter
season in modelling exercises. Is 2 over 2 better than just 3?
or is 2 over 2 better than just 4? If so, how/when/within what
limits? Where do phasing losses become dominant..such that fewer
elements have better payback?
I'm looking toward the next solar max...and anticipating
3 over 3, properly diddled. There's time to model it, and in the
meantime I'm working below yagi freq's. So this is a planning/academic
exercise.
And then, there's the other question....what happens if you have fixed
reflector/directors and a tuneable DE? A cheaper steppIR?
