I believe that the last time this was discussed at length it was decided
that there are type of rebar that can be welded and types that cannot be
welded. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. I know at one time
when I was working construction about 40 years ago I was welding rebar in
some applications and not in others. But I was just doing what I was told.
A search of the archives may turn up the last discussion.
