> Background for the next questions: During the years before Rohn went
bankrupt and was sold, I saw several posts to the effect that the quality of
their tower sections had dropped off. I don't recall any specifics, but my
impression wasn't good. The alternative would be Nello's replacement 55N
sections. A local ham tells me that the structural quality is very good,
though in his case the finishing on the galvanizing was not. His complaint
was sharp edges on cross braces, nasty for climbing unless filed down. He
said the quality of the coating was fine and does not anticipate rust
problems.

Galvanizing drips have always been around. If they bother you, just
break them off. I wouldn't file them - that positively removes the
galvanizing.
Unless it's on a mating surface or in your way somehow, I'd leave them - they
don't hurt anything.

sections being damaged in shipment, which raises questions about customer
service.

Customer service from who? The dealer? The manufacturer? The shipper?
Each one has a role and each one can give varying degrees of service. That one
is your call.

> Questions: Now that Rohn has been acquired and has been running under the
new parent for a while, has quality improved? What's the opinion out there
on the Nello products, specifically 55N?

My one experience with Nello 45N sections was not satisfactory. Out of
ten sections, only one of them slid right on. Some of them took a comealong to
pull together and one section took two comealongs and a TowerJack to pull it
into place - a HUGE hassle. OTOH I've installed Radian Rohn 25G and 45G in
the last year and they went together great! I'm sticking to Radian Rohn.
