Regarding single ended or voltage fed antennas, and 'tuned grounds': Unless you are absolutely committed to sitting in the middle of your bloody antenna, and ignoring RF exposure safety requirements, I recommend that you put your tuner in a box outside, and run the wire down to it, then run coax on-ground, into the house as I previously described.
