i view it more as not explicitly as the dollar value of my time, but
that I have X hours/month to spend on ham radio projects, and a
project that takes substantially more than X hours to complete, so I
want to allocate the X hours efficiently. I could spend an hour
assembling cables or an hour writing control software... both tasks
have to get done. If I want to spend money to "buy time", at least
the cables are available. The same is not true of the software writing.
It's no different than buying a tower vs welding it up yourself, just
on a different scale.
