I just replaced a T2X with a Yaesu G2800DXA rotor.
When I received the rotor, I double checked the factory calibration and
adjusted the overlap LED, right and left stop positions, full scale
adjust, and preset stops on the bench according to the manual. I was
planning on setting the direction of the antenna to match the controller
direction indicator before pinning the mast. But because of problems
during the installation, the antenna direction changed and I had to
reposition the direction pointer to match the direction of the antenna
after the installation was complete. As a result the CCW (left) stop
is now at 145 degrees vs 180 specified and the 90 degree overlap stop is
at about 230 rather than 270. I don't see any problems with this
outcome, but I wonder if anyone does see a problem.
During the installation, we damaged the seven pin rotor plug and had to
buy a replacement from Yaesu for $48!!!! I was really appalled at such
blatant gouging. I have since done a search for the plug's Japanese
manufacturer (Nanaboshi) and found a posting from some equally incensed
hams who apparently identified a US distributor where they could be
obtained for about $7/ea. in lots of 50. If anyone knows of a source
for these plugs or an equivalent at a reasonable price, please let me know.
73 and TIA,
Joe
