Yes, I tried an AIM4170. It is knocked out by a 50 kW
station @ 6 miles on my 160 vertical. It might work
with a filter installed, however, it is necessary to
calibrate out the filter. Unfortunately, the calibration
software can only calibrate out a cable, not a filter.
Thus you may be able to make measurements through a filter,
but then you will have to, on your own, "de-embed" the antenna
from the filter. No thanks.
I have been trying for 6 months to talk the vendor into changing the
calibration routine to allow it to calibrate out an
arbitrary network (filter, plus cable, plus balun, etc.)
I have told them exactly what they need to do.
So far, they have not done this, AFAIK. Maybe this is because
they have announced a new model that will cost much more,
and which they claim will work in high fields without a filter.
I suggest that you wait until the new model is introduced,
assuming the increased price is within your budget.
