I've been looking at the series 830, 831 an 832 balun kits from the
wireman. These use T-200-1 and T-200-2 cores. Would a balun like these
be capable of handling the full 75/80 meter band with the legal limit
CCS (Digital). I figure the SWR could reach between 3 and 4:1.

I've not had a good track record using the current batch of W2AU baluns
which appear to be pretty light, at least to me.

This type of balun also lets me keep the entire antenna at DC ground
whereas the choke, or current balun does not. With the number of
strikes my tower takes having one half of the dipole floating makes me a
bit nervous.

Actually the plans, at present, call for the balun at the antenna and
then the ferrite beads (choke) back near the remote switch for isolation
as shown in the antenna handbook when
using multiple, switched slopers.

TIA and 73

Roger (K8RI)
