Bill,
I have had the need to erect the Tri-Ex LM-470 tower on 4 occasions over the
years, and in addition a heavier HD-589 US Tower using one of the methods
describe in the responses you received. The technique that requires very
little expense, or operating space is the use of 4" PVC, or round fence posts
(I
prefer the wood posts). Several "rollers" and a couple medium length 2x4's
for levers will allow you and one other person (my XYL) to relocate the
rollers
and you can move a tower from the front yard to the back with comparative
ease.

The next step of engaging the tower base to the base tabs is also done using
basically the same idea, but in this case you may have to adjust the
diameter or thickness of what now becomes a fulcrum (a single roller or box).
Remember that with only one roller in place (fulcrum) there is always part of
the
tower that is higher then, or lower then that point. This allows you to put
in a new roller, and when resting on a couple of 2x4's that raises the
fulcrum height and therefore shifts the tilt range on the tower base tabs.
After a
few tries you can get this at the correct position and heght.

When positioned at the right spot you can tilt the tower base up by pushing
the top end down until the bottom pair of holes line up. It is handy to have
large steel punch or rod to engage the tower tab and help in aligning the
holes. 2 Bolts in, attach lifting cable and haul away

Subject: [TowerTalk] Positioning A LM-70 Crank-Up

When first installing the tower after the "Tilt Over Frame" is in
place......My Question is "How do you maneuver/wheel the tower into the
correct
horizontal position", do you use some sort of low dolly

Using the tilt over frame ....... you move the tower in on the backside of
the frame...then align the two side by side base/tower bolts, insert the two
bolts .... then the crank up the tower to a vertical position...with the
re-positioned hand crank.....

But how do you move around 1600 pounds of tower lying one foot off the
ground....
