Chas:

Polyphaser make a surge arrestor just for DC cables such as rotator
control lines. You bolt this arrestor onto a grounded metallic plate such as
your bulkhead (?) and connect all 7 or 8 control cable wires to the respective
screw terminals on the arrestor.

This is a shunt protector so the control cable continues on into the shack
via a similar cable that connects in parallel with the lines from the tower
(red-red, blue-blue, etc.) In other words, if you could simply open the
control cable's jacket and strip a half-inch of insulation off each control
line, you would then connect that bare wire to one of the eight terminals on
the Polyphaser.

But remember: These Polyphaser devices, like the rest of their line, are
NOT weather-resistant. You ought to mount any and all Polyphaser devices in
some sort of weather-resistant box.

A Question...

how does one take the 7 or 8 wire cable thru a bulkhead and into the
station? I cannot see how a lightning strike hitting the mast or the
yagi or beam or ??? on that mast is not going to travel down to ground
using the tower, the coax, and the control cable. I use an antenna
switch box mounted on my Rohn with a piece of coax going thru the
bulkhead thru the usual grounding connectors. but cannot figure out
how to ground the rotor control cable before it enters the shack.

thanks
