I agree.

I have a similar setup in an area where it is damp or even wet most of 
the time.
The insulated radials are crimped and soldered to lugs which are bolted 
to the plate.
All of this is exposed to the elements.
There is naturally occurring sulfur in the soil in this area which tends 
to deteriorate everything quickly.
I have had no problems in the 5 years the plate has been on the ground.
