Doubtful if you will find one in a scrap yard. When I worked for the 
State Department and was stationed in Africa in the 80's we removed 
the full size log from the top of the embassy in Harare, Ziimbabwe.

It sat around the warehouse there for a year or so until the embassy 
decided they wanted to sell it at a surplus auction. I bought it for 
ZS6P for less than $100 then he spent about $500 having it shipped 
from Harare to Pretoria.

This was a huge antenna consisting of 3 each arms made for tower 
sections about the size of Rohn 25g attached at the center on 10 
indexing. Here is a link to a picture of one. The one on the embassy 
did not have the tower but a pedestal. In any case - it covered from 3-30MHz.
