Let me second the motion.  My Yaesu rotators use DC motors, and I have 
occasionally run them up against the stops and kept the power applied 
(not intentionally), literally for hours at a time.  I believe that an 
AC motor would be toast after that, but the DC jobs appear to be 
idiot-proof.
