I made a few last year for my 2 7/8 mast. I used two DXE clamps and 3 x 3 x
1/2 6061-T6 aluminum.

I'm going to make some mast steps from 14" long pieces of 2" x 2" x 1/4"
thick 6061-T6
I have been told that a SINGLE dx eng saddle clamp will suffice... and
handles the weight
of a 250 lb man. The dx eng clamp is just 3/8" SS for the U bolt
portion...
and the saddle
is 1" wide solid AL. I only weight 150 lbs. Is this safe enough ?
Plan
B was to use the
DX eng super mast clamp .. which has solid 2" high saddles on both sides
of
the mast.
This is for a 2" mast.

Tnx.... Jim VE7RF
