I don't understand these comments.  Forget the ham radio part ... if I 
understand him correctly he's saying that someone (anyone) could add a 
couple of 24 dbi antennas to a standard 802.11 system and get greatly 
increased range.  People do that all the time.  Entire neighborhoods 
have pooled their resources to set up such ad hoc networks.  As far as I 
know it is perfectly legal for ANY traffic ... it's just a pencil beam 
"hot spot".  The only limitation would be the terms of the service 
agreement between the guy at the far end and his service provider 
regarding piggy back users.
