I would trust myself with the trouble of hooking and hooking than put my 
life in the hands on an inattentive groundie. My groundies haven't done very 
well so far. I was lucky to get anyone out to help at all.

For a short backyard tower that might work.  But not a 1700 foot tower.

But then what would you do with the line the rest of the year?  You
would need to anchor it away from the tower.  If you pulled it
vertical, snug with the tower, in the wind it would slap itself
against the tower until either you go deaf, or your neighbors blast
the tower to the ground.
